Peter Walkowiak Collected Euphorbia mesera
Wow! what a great show, the Huntington is spectacular this time of year. It was another fantastic southern California Summer day and the vendors who turned out had some great bargains. 1000′s of succulent & cactus enthusiast wondered the shady Jacaranda row gathering up all there special prizes, there was truly something for everyone. I saw plants from $4 to $250, every succulent species you could imanigine was available. Soil mixes, top dressing of all colors and some very nice pottery from local vendors rounded out the goodies.

Inside today it was fun and games but last night it was all business as judges meticulously examined this years entries. The big winner this year had to be Peter Walkowiak of Poway, Ca. Peter gathered 4 trophies and High Points. His category wins included Best “Shrub Type” misera, obtusifolia or platyclada with this beautiful field collected Euphorbia misera.

Next week I have scheduled an interview with Peter at his home. I will get some plant pics for the gallery and he promised to share some of his secrets so don’t forget to check back. Until then keep your plants cool it promises to be a scorcher this week.
